Walls Coming Down

There are bills to pay and I welcome the mundane acts of stuffing envelopes, adhering stamps and clicking send. I am also aware of the request made for a letter of recommendation, I am simultaneously crafting that letter in my head, with the balance between my experience of supervising a new therapist and what the letter reader will be looking for. I am aware of the experience that should not be in the letter, how my supervisee can put up a wall that I can barely peer over, but at other times he is genuinely engaged. We both find it a mystery. I am not treating him and so we shift back and forth from his work as a therapist to who he is as a person. It is a fine line, I am grateful we can talk about the line, at least when the wall is down.
